Savory baked balls smothered with mushroom sauce
Ingredients
1 Cup rolled oats
1 Cup soda cracker crumbs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp ground sage
1/2 tsp chili powder
1 Cup cottage cheese
1 1/2 Cups finely chopped onion
2 eggs
1 can mushroom soup (284 ml)
1 Cup milk (or soy milk)
Preparation
Mix first 6 ingredients in bowl.
Add cottage cheese, onion and eggs and mix well.
Let mixture stand for 10 minutes for absorption.
Roll into 1 inch balls and arrange in greased 9" x 9" casserole dish.
Mix milk and soup together and pour over balls.
Cover and bake at 350° F for 45 minutes.
Remove cover and bake for 30 minutes more.
Makes 6 servings. Great vegetarian substitute for stuffing.
