Thinly sliced potatoes in a creamy onion sauce
Ingredients
8 large peeled and sliced potatoes (1/8")
1 Cup flour
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 Cups milk (or soy milk)
1/2 Cup melted margarine
1 thinly sliced large onion
Preparation
Grease a 4-quart baking dish.
Mix flour, salt and pepper together in a bowl.
Make a layer of potato slices in bottom of dish.
Sprinkle some of the onion over the potatoes.
Sprinkle some of the flour mixture over the potatoes.
Dot the layer of flour with a tablespoon of margarine
Repeat layering potatoes, onion, flour and margarine until all are used.
Pour milk over potatoes until almost covering.
Bake uncovered at 350° F for about 1 1/2 hours until it starts to brown on top.
For a richer dish, you can add a sprinkling of shredded cheddar to each layer.
