A general pie crust made without lard
Ingredients
2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2/3 Cup vegetable shortening
1/2 Cup ice water
Preparation
With a pastry blender or fingers, mix flour, salt and shortening.
Mix in ice water and form into a ball.
Divide ball in half and roll each with rolling pin until thin.
If pre-baking, place into pie plates, poke several holes on bottom and sides with a fork, and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
Use in any recipe that requires pie crust.
Makes 2 crusts.
